I bought this product to test it out because I was curious about it. Leveraging my La Crosse BC1000 Battery Charger/Analyzer, I measured a set of those Basics 'high-capacity' AA batteries. Here's what I discovered: - At the time of delivery, the average remaining charge was 1204mAh, which is equivalent to 48% of the 2500mAh rated capacity. '2014-02' is the date code on them, but, similar to other eneloop batteries, they were not completely charged when they were taken from the factory. In just one cycle of recharge and discharge, the average capacity increased to 2547mAh. - Following two additional cycles of recharge and discharge, the average capacity reached 2555mAh. Back in 2011, I conducted a test on the initial Basics NiMH Precharged Rechargeable Batteries, which were packaged in black. People were asking me, "Are those rebranded 1st-gen Sanyo eneloop batteries?" so I recently bought a set of the new Basics NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries (in white wrappers). So far as I can tell, the short answer is "NO." But hold on, don't go just yet! Using my La Crosse BC1000 charger, I measured the capacity of those Basics AAA batteries. Here's what I discovered: - After being taken out of the packaging, the average amount of charge left is 562mAh, or 70% of the 800mAh capacity that is listed. - The average capacity increased to 797mAh after a single cycle of recharge and discharge. - Following two or three more cycles, the average capacity reached 821mAh. The aforementioned behavior is in line with my earlier test findings for the first-generation (1500-cycle), second-generation (1500-cycle), and third-generation (1800-cycle) eneloop cells.
